Hi All!

I've been a chicken owner since I was born, and not to brag, but I won the FFA Poultry Production Award in 1993 LOL. That said, the last 15 years or so I've only had Silkies and my best story is with "Chadwick Melon" my Silkie roo.

He's in a batchelor coop with his two other brothers and occasionally they have a tussle. After a free range session one afternoon, I noticed him favoring his left wing. I thought for sure he had broken it in a fight. So at 7am the following morning, we were off to the vet clinic for a work-in drop off appointment. I got a call around 11am from the vet that she had taken an Xray and he was absolutely fine. I didn't believe her. She assured me that he was perfectly healthy and he had been serenading the staff all morning with his crows and I could pick him up anytime. So off I went to get him and on the way home, he was in the front seat and I told him, "don't worry buddy, we will be home in 15 min" and just as I said that, we were rear ended by a van at a red stoplight LOL. We were fine, the car was fine, the police were called. The van driver got a ticket and I had to explain to the police officer, "since I'm not at fault, can I go home because I have a live chicken in the car" LOL and then she said yes but wanted to see the chicken. So I had to show her Chad and what a good boy he was and I was kinda embarrassed and it was just a bizarre day. And that's basically me in a nutshell.

I used to have to drive my buddy Harriet around to all the functions. Once she turned of age and was able to obtain her Driver's Licence, it was wonderful for her to be able to run her errands now, but I never see my car anymore.. :gig
