Hello everyone I need your help for one of my oriental chicken. For history, I travelled it yesterday for an hour but when receiving the chicken I already saw a little bit of buldge. But when i got home and check it todsy there's little bit of whitish in the eye (picture for reference). Yesterday i let it take a tablet with 100mg doxycycline and 50 mg tiamulin since it's a 4.5 kg chicken and almost 2 years old. Aside from the left eye the chicken appears quite active and no huge bulging around the nose area. I wonder if there are medicine you guys give for it. Or will it get better.

Are there any hens or other roos pecking him in the eye? Also, welcome! Not quite sure what puss in eyes mean, but you can search it up here on BYC, there are probably other people thay have delt with this before and can help you.

Where are you located in the world?

Is there a bad odor about the face or inside the beak?

It looks like he has an eye infection, bubbles could mean Mycoplasma, but there's other respiratory diseases that can also present with pus and bubbles in the eyes.

Clean/flush the eye with saline, press/push the pus out of the eye, then put an ointment like Terramycin eye ointment in the eye. Repeat a couple of times a day.

Doxycycline or Tiamulin will most of the time treat symptoms of Mycoplasma. I would only give one or the other, not both at the same time. Finish the course of treatment.

Thank you so much for this! I'm located in the Philippines. There's no foul smell at all and that put me a little bit at ease since it's not coryza right? However, can i push the pus out of the eye even if it appears like it's underneath?

You can flush the eye several times first and see if you are able to flush the pus out without having to press on the eye.

Do you have this chicken quarantined from others? If it has MG conjunctivitis and respiratory disease, it can infect your others and make them carriers. Tiamulin or doxycycline are a few of the medicines that can treat MG symptoms at the proper dosage, but it is a lifelong disease she will carry.

Try flushing well to see if you can get the pus to move to the surface a bit more. You can also apply warm compresses to help loosen it.

It's good that you don't detect a bad odor.
