Acts like she is going to lay, but nothing...

My Hens are 3 years old. Hen that molted last year was laying eggs daily this fall until we had a very severe cold spell. Although this is normal, she hasn't layed an egg since even though we have had very nice weather the last month. I have another hen that is laying daily except very cold spells.

She is very vocal when she wants to lay an egg...like making an announcement.
She has been doing the vocal bit but not laying eggs.

I have 2 other hens that molted hard this fall...no eggs yet.

Should I be concerned?

Yeah...she has layed eggs the last two days.
Now we are at 4 degrees.

As far as the hens that molted...waiting for them to start again.

My best guess is that hens need to save their warmth during winter (also id they brood during winter, they wouldnt be able to leave their nest because the egg would get cold very fast and chick would die)

Id say no dont be worried. My hen does this and her laying schedule is quite random, but she is new-ish to laying. Just watch her carefully and make sure shes eating drinking, doesnt look sickly or malnourished ect
