I had a small incubator but did not have much success with it. I am looking to get a new one. My roosters seem to be doing an excellent job of "go forth and multiply". Every egg I have used lately has been fertilized, one even had a teeny tiny embryo in it! Or at least I think it was an embryo. I don't know much, but it certainly looked like one.

My chickens, and ducks, had not been laying much at all from mid Summer until about two weeks ago. I actually butchered six roosters and was considering some of the hens too, but didn't know which ones were laying. I have gotten 10-12 eggs a day consistently for almost a week. And if I can hatch out at least a dozen I'd be really happy. The last time one of my hens had a clutch she only successfully hatch 3 and I have just discovered that 2 are roosters! Good thing I still have room in the freezer! Anyway, if anyone has advice on an incubator and/or how best to pick eggs for hatching and the hatching process I'd appreciate it.

How many eggs will you want to incubate at a time?
Do you need fully automatic or can you turn eggs?
What is the maximum price you will pay for one?

I would probably start with a dozen. And I don't think I want to spend much more than $100. I can turn them, but automatic would be a good thing.

Kebbonix..holds 12 eggs, it has an egg turner..a fan..and an exterior chamber to add water too without opening the incubator. It also has an egg candler built on it. Its super easy to handle..the egg turner automatically shuts of at day 19 for lockdown. It's very easy to manage..I was a newbie and I like it. Oh it's around a hundred. I paid a hundred for mine. eBay.

I find it best to select clean, well shaped, uniformly sized eggs for hatching. As well as your hens are laying. It should only take a couple of days to get 12 nice eggs to place in your incubator. So storing them should not be an issue for you.

eBay and Amazon sell them but ask if they sell parts before buying the incubator I have is 32 eggs holder work find hatch about 30 chicks in three years and the heating element went out and can’t find one like it it’s like guessing the brand it just say incubator no # or so I have two in order we shall see and I went ahead and order three more in what I thought would be good will probably sending one back cause it’s not what I wanted got one running now with 10 eggs in it and they said it hold 10 to me 22 eggs but 10 is all I can put in it and the third one is like my first one that one I had success with it so do your homework on picking your incubator and make sure they have a return policy ok good luck
