After a failed hatch, I'm looking for a new bird that is sort of quieter than ducks. Are quail quieter in general?

I don't plan on getting bobwhites since they are pretty loud but I also live in a warmer area so that is probably not a problem. Do you know how loud exactly a button quail can get? there have been no good examples on google so I am trying to find information on here.
Buttons do NOT get loud. Even calling males are pretty quiet. I keep mine indoors, but it certainly gets below 40 where I live since I get snow.

If you keep the males separate in a bachelor flock (away from any hens), they generally don't fight and crow all of the time. It's only really when they can see and interact with hens that they'll start to cause a ruckus. You can also butcher them, it's pretty easy to do.
alright I might consider some of these if I do choose to get quail :)

You also get eggs and meat (if you wish) with coturnix, they are definitely a type of production animal whereas buttons are pets pure and simple. We run 12-15 hens and three roosters plus assorted chicks. My boys rarely crow except when you remove their ladies! We did have 3-4 week old teenagers crowing in the basement after our first hatch (4/5 male!) and even when moved outside into a bachelor pad they were fighting and crowing with no girls within sight or sound. Even when they do crow it isn’t really loud or noisy unless it is the basement and your sons bedroom is right over it! It really just depends if you want eggs and stuff or just cute birds, indoors or outdoors. Buttons are subtropical and need warmth at all times, so if your local lows drop below 70 ever you’d need to keep them inside or provide a really good heat lamp! I haven’t overwintered our birds yet but I think in the garage with good bedding they should be fine even when the temp is below zero, it is just the water I worry about freezing.

I keep my coturnix in the garage of my townhouse. I share a driveway and wall with one neighbor. One afternoon, I met them in the driveway just as one of my males crowed. They asked if I was raising dragons :lau. I gave them a couple of dozen eggs just for making me laugh.

Thats so funny! I hope my neighbors will be accepting because I live with an HOA and I have been trying to keep my birds as quiet as possible lol

I'm in an HOA, too, but the bylaws don't say anything about game birds. I've been raising them for a couple of years and, so far, no one has complained.
I hope it goes that way with me too but I’m not sure exactly what it says I just know it prohibits domestic animals and stuff other than like cats and dogs cus they think it’s gonna be too loud even though my dog is WAYY louder
