I have 6 eggs in an incubator right now, 5 have pipped so far. Two pipped last night, and this one of the two has made a small crack in the egg about the size of my thumb nail. Neither have showed any progress since then. I read online that it takes 24 hours for one to hatch before I should start helping is this true? Or should I wait longer? Thanks for the help!

I have had it take anywhere from one hour to one day just depends on the strength of the duckling

But keep an eye on them as it is not something you will see every day ...

Alright think you! They are part white crested, and I know the crest was a birth defect of the mothers, would that somehow affect the babies at all?

Glad you joined the BYC flock. I think you would best be served by posting on the DUCK thread. I know ducks take more days to hatch than chickens, I would also guess the temperature and humidity range would be different as well. You might also ask for more information on the crested birds.

What a great picture! I have my daughter's baby monitor on my duck eggs so i can watch whenever or wherever i am. The suspense is killing me. Day25 first time
Hi, Ms. Bee,
