Gap means male, no gap female? The younger chicks’ wing pictures were taken at 2:30 today so 24 hours before the 2nd chick hatched at 2:37 pm yesterday but I don’t see any feathers except on the half EE chick. Does that mean 4 males and 1 female?

The light buff polish chick has some curled toes, probably due to inbreeding. I bought the parents as month old chicks that may have been closely related. I took out eggs that may have been from buff polish hen before setting the eggs from my flock which I’m not sure I’ll do as I still have a dozen Easter Egger eggs, a dozen silkie eggs and half a dozen cream legbar eggs that are waiting on the new incubator to arrive on Tuesday which has a capacity of 25 eggs. Chicken math.

Just set 14 eggs tonight: 6 lemon blue OEGB, 4 of the silkie eggs from the same place I got the cream legbar eggs from, and 4 from the satin silkie. I’ll update on specifics at lockdown.

Today was a high of 19 C, low 6 C although I remember Alexa saying it was 20 C this afternoon.

Yesterday the eggs were 5 side air cells, 1 centered. Today 2 centered, one side, one off centre. It’s warmer than yesterday- so far if it’s colder than the day before it’s usually more side air cells and vice versa.

I put sharpie on two of the last polish chicks’ toe nails yesterday but today it disappeared. Now that they are fully dry I can tell them apart: the older chick has black spots on its back. Both chicks came from eggs labeled side air cells.

Pictures from 3 pm, silkies are about a month old, polish and polish crosses about 48 hours old.
