Alfalfa cubes

I was talking to @RoosterML about their pelleted rabbit feed.
Sorry aart my apologies...a mention on pellets, they take forever to breakdown when you soak them, I had a bag of alfalfa pellets for horses, had to soak them overnight. Cubes on the other hand, 30 to 45 minutes and they are ready to go.

I prefer the alfalfa pellets because I have a strong aversion to feeding long stem forage. It might never cause a crop impaction, but I'm just not willing to take the chance. Plus, the pellets are easier to store (take up less room).

For me part of the benifit of alfalfa hay is the time it takes the flock to scratch a flake apart and pick up all the leaves. This takes time. In the winter when they can not get out, this gives them something to do besides picking on each other. Im not sure a water soaked cube will have the same effect. Maybe if i only had 3 or 4 birds it would work.
I have heard about this and interested in trying this. My question is can you only feed this during the winter, or can you feed this to your flock 1 or 2x a week? My flock on free ranges when I can be out with due to a high predators.

I only feed this during the winter because i free range most of the year when the weather permits.
I see no problem with feeding 2nd cutting alfafa hay year around if your chickens are confined.
Guineas especially need the greens and boredom in chickens can create quite a few other undesirable behaviors and problems.

Ok. Thanks. For your reply I do give them greens as well. When they are not able to get of the pens. So I thought this might be a good supplement to add to their diet. We do have a hawk issue at this time. With a few nest 😏. We do live in fla so their is not much of a winter as there would be up north. But cold for us. Lol
