We have 4 barnyard mixes and want to add to our flock. Our goals are companionship, family hobby, and eggs. We like a docile, friendly flock.
I have an order in for a trio of 1 day old chicks from a hatchery. (Blue olive egger, Colombian rock cross, and a cream leg bar) Wanting a friend for our 2.5lbs polish frizzle, I ordered from a different hatchery a sexed 6-8 week old splash silkie and a 4 week old lavender Orpington (they wouldn't ship the silkie alone and said she needed to be older to not get hurt by the other chick in the box).
They should all be apx. the same age when I combine, except the silkie a few weeks older.
Is this going to work, mixing the 2 orders? Is it a bad idea to just have one silkie, even though I have the small polish frizzle as a friend? She is left alone for the most part.
Pictures attached to give examples of my current girls sizes.
