I picked up eight sexed female chicks from Tractor supply that were marked "Americana" with Legbar parentage.

I'm trying to find more on this crossbreed, but all I keep finding is stuff on the true breed Ameraucana.

At the moment I just want to make sure that I actually do have female chicks. Of the eight of them, four have a lighter brown chipmunk stripe pattern, and four have a dark black chipmunk pattern stripe. Also, some have eyeliner and some don't. I'm really hoping this doesn't mean half of them are male. I'd be pretty ticked if Tractor Supply sold me straight run chicks and told me they were sexed. 😅

The fellow at Tractor Supply told me they don't have any policy if they turn out to be roosters, I'll just have to eat the cost, (and the roosters I suppose).

What have people's experiences been with Tractor Supply checks that are supposed to be female? Also, are americanas with leg bar parentage a feather sexing cross-breed or not?

So what you have are Easter Eggers. Some stores will call them Americanas. Not the same as true Ameraucana breed. How do you know they're Crested Cream Legbar based? Is that what the sign said?

You won't be able to sex them by color because they're mixes. If they were pure bred CCL, then the colors would matter.

Yes the sign at Tractor Supply said they were part legbar.

It's a relief to know they might all be female. Thanks so much!
