Antique Incubator

Great old bator. I've restored a couple old redwoods myself and have one that im fixin to start restoring but I've never found any kersonen ones. Ill try and find the link to a website were they speciallize in restoring incubators there extremely helpful and can help with replacement parts that can be hard to find.

Wow. That's every bit as cool as a classic car. A working antique bator. Wooooo!

The kerosene lamp heated water in the pipes at the top of the incubator. A wafer sat in the hole in the top and through a link opened and closed a damper at the top of the lamp chinmney to control the temperature.
Depending on the interior volume you might be able to use the works from a styrofoam incubator to update it. A heating element, a thermostat and a fan would make it work.

I'd love to restore it and use it like it was originally. with a kerosene lamp. If I do get it done, I'll post the pictures after it's restored. It'd be pretty cool to get it working again.

I have a # 6 in perfect working order. you unfortinetly are missing some major parts for it to be a functing incubator. as for making it a kitchen table, choping block or any other item besides what it was made for would be a shame. I have the original operaters manual that came with it in 1894. It is very fraggile but i have managed to scan it and now have it on my computer and if you send me your e-mail i would be glad to share it with you. The #6 was my second antique incubator and now i have four. i would say that the successful #6 incubator is my pride and joy.My others are a Buckeye 14E and a keystone state and my first is a Favorite incubator [ electric] which will hold four hundred eggs at a time. That one i use twice a year and only incubate no more than thirty at a time. Great finding others who enjoy the beauty of true craftsmanship that our ancesstors had.

Do you have full pictures of the incuberator? I have a number of coal burning successful brooder stoves from Des Moines Incuberator company and would be interested in seeing full pictures of the incubator from all sides, if possible. Thanks, Keith.
