When you set your oven temperature to whichever value,, oven is trying to deliver that to center of oven.
Ah, I didn't know that. Interesting.

Here's what I did. The oven is a regular electric, and about 45 years old. I have the racks set so that one is in the middle, the other one is just below it. I put the thermometer in the center, left-to-right, about 3/4 of the way to the back. I let the oven go through two heating cycles.

I checked it, and wow, it read over 400 with the oven set at 325. I moved the thermometer to about 4 inches from the front, left the oven door open long enough for it to come on to reheat. Closed the door, let it cycle again.

I checked it again. Still about 400. So I turned the oven down to 275, moved the thermometer to the side, put the zucchini bread in, and baked the bread, as I was running into a time crunch and the bread had to bake for 45-50 minutes. The thermometer read between 350 and 375.

My actual time on the bread was 55 minutes.

The thermometer was about $20, IIRC, so I should have looked into it more and bought a better quality one that could be adjusted.:hmm

After 45 years it's possible that the oven's temperature sensor is faulty.

My insect-ridden and overall disappointing carrots went into the crock pot today. They at least made decent chicken noodle soup!
I just pulled mine today.

I’m not sure where to post this, so I’m posting it here.

I candled some of my eggs today for fun. I know they’re not fertilized, I was just curious if I could see the yolk.

All I did was use my phone for the light. I got some amazing detail.

You can see the air pocket on the right side, and the yolk on the top. At least I think it’s the yolk. I know I captured something.

What’s more amazing is that I think I got a double yolk in another egg.

I thought it was interesting and I wanted to share it.

Making Paella tomorrow.
