Any Home Bakers Here?

The oven is a regular electric, and about 45 years old.
Well,,, that oven has been to the moon and back a number of times. As long as it is still working, it is fine. :thumbsup
My suggestion,,, Is keep a notation of oven setting temp, and actual temp. This way next time you decide to bake breads, Set it at 325°F and your resulting oven temp will be 400+
When baking cakes, set at 275°F and resulting oven temp will be about 350+

I have a feeling that the $20 thermometer is close enough in accuracy.

Good Morning all!!!
I love home baking!!!! I make cookies, cakes, pies. I am going to be going on a "Baking Spree" (that's what my hubby calls it) later on this month seeing how I am going to be making 3-4 different kinds of cookies for the cookie bowl bags we give to his co-workers every year for Halloween (just started that last year) and Christmas (been doing that for 4 years now).
I know it's not actually "baking" but I want to get into making candy too. I already have a few silicone molds (variety) but I don't know what to use except for melting candy.

What goes with squash soup? I have never had it, but I will be making it for dinner.
As far as a recipe, I am under the impression that I need to; sauté the onions, cube and cook the squash in “just enough” broth, get the immersion blender in there, and pray it comes out “creamy,” and not “soupy.”
