Anyone ever put a GREEN ROOF on a chicken RUN????

I been thinking about this myself . . .
If I go thru with it, I would use a sweet flowery viney plant grown into the roof like a trelace . . .

I picture honeysuckle as first thought.

Living plants make a great heat barrier, and here in Sacto we get some HOTTTT summers . . .
 
Maybe you can use a heavy guage fence with smaller holes (1/2" x 1/2" wire netting) and use coconut fiber as the base, then the dirt, then plants? Might just work!

(Google coconut fiber and look at images for anyone who has not used it)
 
We did. Its actually called a green roof chicken coop. I have my salad greens and herbs planted on top. Used pond liner, some stones for drainage and of course potting soil. I will post a picture if I can figure out how. Its pretty awesome.
