Anyone have any idea what breed and gender this chick is?

I got this chick gifted to me by a friend of my grandma, but he never let us know what breed it is so im wondering if anyone has any idea what it could be. Also, can anyone tell if it's a roo or a pullet?

Maybe speckled Sussex and a little cockerel.
