Hey everyone!

So, I currently have some Call Duck eggs in the incubator (and under a broody hen, but don't tell her they're not chicken eggs...) and I'm ECSTATIC about them! I've been searching trying to find size comparison photos of the little guys and am just wondering if anyone can provide me with some? Especially some compared to "average-sized" ducks would be great! But any are welcomed with open arms!

Thanks in advance!!!
Maddie

sorry he turned the other way
but this is at 3 days old. in a typical sized coffee cup

my easter hatch in with typical sized plastic eggs

2 healthy ducklings and one with a leg problem (so slightly smaller) fit comfortably into an 8 oz sour cream container.
this is where they slept

those guys are currently 6 weeks old. but i have pictures of their parents

granted none of my birds are show quality but my 3 snowys are breeder quality.

I agree, they're beautiful! Is the one in the group picture on the top right a Butterscotch? That's what I'm hatching. :) With the possibility of a Butterscotch/Blue Bibbed. :)

Maddie, for size reference good call ducks even as adults can be easily slipped into the pocket of a sweatshirt hoody jacket. They can be held in one hand by an average sized adult with the fingers easily going around most if not all the body.

Now, has anyone told you calls are severely hard to hatch thanks to those super cute tiny bills? And shipped call eggs are even harder. Please know this up front and be ok that you may only get 1-2 or even none. There are rare times when someone will have a super hatch, but be aware the small hatches are more the norm.

she is actually a pastel . =)

and celtic oak makes a very good point about them being hard to hatch .
this is why i prefer my pet quality call ducks they are a little easier to hatch .

Yes, I am aware that calls are difficult to hatch, short necks and short beaks. But I have faith in my mama bird and I will do my best. Hope for the bet, expect the worst. :) thank you.
