Anyone Raise Geese For Meat?

Hi everone, I m new here. I have a four acre farm house in country like New York. I don't have a pond or anything, but I m interested to raise geese for the most nutritious eggs and meat, because, geese liver has the highest source of vit K2. I have friends that they are living in Europe and they feed their geese fish. I try to avoid giving my animals grains. How can I start the geese farming to raise eggs and meat? Thanks.

Oh, can u help me to get geese also. Which one and where should I look for to buy geese? What type of home or house to need to be constracted for geese?

I raise geese for meat, best bird ever ! Simply delicious, and exceptional conversion ratio if raised on pasture with feed only in the evening.

Curious as to why you would avoid grains for birds? I have hear of it for cattle, but not for birds.

If you google "hatcheries goslings" you will get a links to hatcheries that sell goslings and/or goose eggs for hatching.

Just wanted to say really quick you can't keep turkeys with any other birds. They carry diseases that don't affect themselves but will kill your chickens and geese.

Because grains are not for eating by any living creature. The grains cause leaky gut, which in turn causes autoimmune problems and many other diseases are made possible. Who wants to eat sick animals?!

Grains are totally eaten by lots of living creatures, especially birds and rodents. They're a huge part of their natural diet. Look it up. Grains are bad for animals that normally eat exclusively grass (cows, sheep, horses, rabbits) and animals that are generally omnivorous (dogs, pigs, humans, bears) get nothing but calories out of them. However, birds eat seeds.... Which is what grains are. And so do rodents. They ALSO eat grass, but their diet is more diverse than that. They're one of the few animals that are meant to eat grains.

Now soy beans on the other hand....

Thanks for all the butchering information. This is our second year of raising geese for meat. Last year I found a poultry processor that butchered waterfowl. This year they do only chickens and turkeys, so its up to me.

I have butchered many game animals, but no birds. From what I have read here, I will use a burlap sack to contain the bird; I will use an axe for the killing; I will hang the bird for 5 to 10 minutes for bleed out; I will skin the bird rather than plucking.

Sounds like I am giving myself a pep talk!
