lol apparently the "urges" are super strong!

I am trying to quit no meds involved. I keep a notebook with me to write down when I really want a smoke. I have done this for a month now and found out I smoke more driving my own vehicle then anywhere else. Also if I have a beer, but with beer I light it put it an ashtray and go about what I'm working on. It is funny how you learn about yourself when you write it down. It has helped me to the point that I went from 2 packs aday to 5 smokes aday.

Ok Its day four and so far no nasty side effects form taking champix, the only thing I've noticed is that my appetite has dropped(which is good for me I need to lose some weight lol) and I'm a bit windy. today is the day that the dose increases from 1 O.5 milligram tablet to two 0.5 milligram tanlets a day, one in the day and one at night. I still crave smokes though, maybe I won't in a few more days

Itook Chantix last March 2008 and haven't smoked since.... nausea, only once, depression, funny, a few times I had a"I'm so depressed" feeling and like 'poof' it was gone, very weird
But, it worked and I smoked for over 30 years.............
After I had quit completely in May, I noticed I got a lot more sicker than usual, even though I am a vitamin freak. I mean, it was every other week I was sick as a dog with a cold. Before this, I hadn't even had so much as a sore throat in over ten years. My resistance went way down, and hopefully this year won't be a repeat.

My husband smoked for 36 years and had tried everything you could think of to quit. He finally tried Chantix 2 years ago and has been smoke free since. He had nausea and that was it. He tells me all of the time how glad he is that he doesn't smoke anymore and how much better he feels. Insurance didn't cover it but it was only $122 a month for 3 months. I'd say that's worth paying to extend someone's life.

I smoked too but quit when I found out I was pregnant.

Terrie is it covered for you? Chantix and Nicitrol inhalers aren't covered on Ken's insurance and the price is sky high! Patches don't work for him......

Yes it was covered. The entire course cost him $15 in copays.

ok I'm on Day 15 of the champix tablets and the only side effect I've had is a few headaches and being a little grumpy sometimes lol. I have now been smoke free for 4 days! I gradually cut down how many smokes I was having a day in the first 2 weeks of taking the tablets, the tablets started working about 4 days into the course but it was more my habits (coffee and smoke when I get up) that were harder to break. So far so good I recommend these champix tablets to who ever wants to give up smoking, I think they are great I'm not craving at all. Hubby is still smoking but he stays clear when he has a smoke and is planning on giving up when I have finished the course of champix.
