Apple cider vinegar to help with Internal Parasites?

I spoke with several chicken experts at my local feed store, as well as many people on here for advice about getting rid of worms without drugs in my chickens. Several people said cayenne pepper or crushed garlic in a favorite treat, which I'm cool with trying.

Some suggested diatematious earth, which I use in my coop, but one chicken guy said that it is disputed that DE does not work to feed internally to get rid of them inside the chicken because it doesn't work with water.

The same chicken guy said to use apple cider vinegar in the water which will balance the pH and kill the worms.

I've used acv in my dogs water for his allergies, but has anyone heard of this to get rid of parasited in chickens? What are your ideas on this?

Vinegar does not kill worms. DE does not work when it is wet (and I have my doubts about whether it works at all). Garlic and crushed red pepper are useless for worming chickens. To kill worms you need to use a de-wormer. To lighten the worm load you can use pumpkin seeds and a buttermilk flush, but why bother doing that when a de-wormer is much more effective? If you want to go "chemical free" you can use the BYC search feature to find the info regarding pumpkin seeds and buttermilk flush. I don't use it, so I can't help you with it.

I use Verm-X to prevent worms, it's an organic product that does not require an egg withdrawal period but it is a preventative and not a de wormer. ACV actually does not 'balance' the bird's pH but rather lowers it, as it's an acid, but it seems to work well on their intestinal track.

If you want to REALLY get rid of the worms.. you need to use a REAL wormer..
I use Ivomectin 5% pour-on...
Workes great and kills any lice or mites on the birds also.
