Are chicken collars good?

I’m sorry, I thought a couple were younger.
I love Snooze! My Betsy Ross is like that, when I get that look I feel kinda
dumb 😆
Once they have you trained, keeping chickens gets easier!
Have you made any progress with your neighbors? I have a couple of cameras outside, mostly because of predators.
Its okay! I know right! They make us humans feel like a chicken just outsmarted us 🫣.
Agreed. No progress really, we just bring our hens by there house so if there looking they can see we have the limit.

Fatso Snooze for you!

Haha, I think about keeping my dogs on a healthy diet so they don't get overweight, but I never thought I'd have to worry about that for my chickens.

As a lover of RIR & Black sex links it has been my experience that they love telling the world when they lay an egg.
The egg song is a social thing. The hens instinct (or knowledge) is to call out that she is ready to join the flock again.
If you free range and have a good rooster, he wil come to the coop / hen to collect her and escort her to the place where the flock is that very moment.
My hens (I don't have a rooster) do not escort the hen who laid, but sometimes respond with a vocal reply.

Its not a good for a hens health if a hen gets too heavy and fatty. She will lay less eggs or may stop completely.
That’s one of the reasons why you shouldn‘t give much scratch, mealworms and fatty treats.
Some breeds tend to become fatty (the meat production breeds). The selection they went through for the farmers was not to gain more eggs or a long life.

If you have a heavy hen, best you can do is to make a flat roost (lath) 3-4” wide and about 3-4” from the floor where she can step on. Sand (coarse) or file the sharp edges to prevent bumble feet.

Oh yes, definitely a social thing. Having had only a few breeds, my Black Star & RIR put the others to shame with their celebrations 😆
