Are fresh herbs ok to put in nesting boxes? Or, must they be dried first?

I chopped up fresh thyme, oregano, sage, mint, lemon balm, and lavender and put some in the nesting box. Is that OK if it’s fresh it smells pretty strong. Do I have to dry my herbs first before using them for the chickens?

I put my herps in fresh. Sometimes they will snack on it a little bit but most of the time they will just let it be😊

I use both fresh herbs and dried herbs and my chickens love both! I put some in their nesting boxes, dust bathing areas and also in their chicken coop. I also like to plant peppermint and marigolds around my chicken coop to help deter the rodents!
