They are safe in small amounts. Chickens make their own vitamin C. Chicks are pretty leary of new foods so they may not try them. Enjoy your chicks!

Since you said babies, no. There is just no reason. Most animals don't like citrus and chickens are no exception. When they get into my compost they always leave citrus behind. Even rats don't like citrus. You can dry it or put it in vinegar for a lovely coop cleaning spray instead.....
