Are there any tarps that don't degrade within a few months?

I hate tarps but I need them....I recently bought an "extreme-duty weather-resistant tarp." I think it's been outside for a little less than a year and it is no longer waterproof and it is shedding tons of tiny bits of plastic into my chicken run. :he Has anyone found better tarps or alternatives? And what do I do about all the plastic in my chicken run?! 😣

We have purchased many tarps over the years, most last more than two years. The tarp we hung as roof of the run was installed on 2020, and it just started to show some tear.

Don't really know the differences among the tarps, but the tarp we use as roof is more expensive, 12 mil. I think others are 10mil.

It depends on what you want to cover?! We used tarps to cover our firewood, and all of them degraded after 1 year and shed millions of tiny plastic particles 😩 after the 3rd one had degraded, we bought a metal stand, it was way more expensive than a „high“ quality tarp, but doesn’t shed one bit of plastic and has already lasted us more than 3 years
I think the sun is what is killing the tarps so fast, it is really strong here !

We have a pool cover as the roof on my chicken coop for the last year and it is still holding up, albeit with a few holes in it.

Heavy duty canvas tarps

Used to be a website called tarps.com. I think i bought these on Amazon. A little longer than normal 2 day delivery - think a week? Will have to find my order from 2 - 1/2 yrs ago or there abouts. I guess Larry ordered them... Will find link and posting tomorrow.

These are starting to show wear. I need to wash them - hose, soap, scrub. Then when dry there is a water proofing treatment.

I buy my hoop coop covers from billboardtarps.com. I get the 13 oz vinyl, and I use a grommet kit for wherever I need grommets in the vinyl. I've only had the oldest up for three years now, but it's still like new. My goose coop has a section with sharp edges that have rubbed some holes, but even with geese chewing on it there's no shredding of material.

I like to order the white because it lets a lot of light in, and my guineas in particular are hesitant to enter a dark coop.
