I did notice the comb was different! Every time I look up a pic of my chick on google it says RIR or a Buckeye. Buckeye does seem to have some black in the feathers, darker red feathers and a pea comb! Do you think that’s what mine might be?
What was the down color as a chick?
This was the day I got her/him. Based on the DOBs given by the feed store, I would assume this one was hatched 5/19 which would make it 2.5 weeks in this pic. Not sure the down color unfortunately

Did you get it from a hatchery? Or local farm/breeder?
Based on the eyeliner, which likely indicates it was a chipmunk patterned chick . . . it's neither a pure Buckeye or RIR, but could be a mix of either one. Both RIR and Buckeyes start out with a ginger coloring.
I got them from a feed store. I only assume the DOB is 5/19 for this one. I don’t really know. Looking at the pic I just posted when I got it, there seem to be way more feathers than other 2 week old chicks I see. Maybe it’s older? The other DOBs are 5/6 then 4/9. I have 4 from the 4/9 hatch date and they’re huge now. And I THINK I have 2 from the 5/6 hatch date cause they’re in between this one’s size and the 4/9’s size. These are possible breeds from their FB.
Is the color after the breed supposed to egg color, or plumage color? I'm assuming egg color, but just verifying.

Here’s a closer pic of the face younger. And the golden speckled one’s face. They both had great makeup when they were younger lol
