Are these Bovan Goldline?

Hello,

I just got my first chickens ever and am really excited. We decided to start with full grown hens and bought four from a local guy. He told us that they are a cross between Road Island Red and a "Brown Legger" and said that the Amish call them "Brown Bovine". I have looked this up and can't find much. From my research I did find "Bovan Goldline" and they seem to be what I have. I am just hoping someone may be able to confirm this. Thanks for any help!

Im not sure what a brown legger is? Is it a leghorn? So I have no Idea unless it is just another name for a sexlink.

If you look up Bovan Brown on the search bar in BYC there was a thread on her back in july of O8 it says that they go by many different names, Isa Browns is one Dekalb Hyline is another and so on.

I know that around here, people tend to pronounce leghorn like "leggern"... that might be what they said...

Definately a brown production cross bird of some type. They are usually quite personable and great egg layers.

A lot of hatcheries come up with their own "brand" names for production line birds. Red Comets, Gold Comets, Red Stars, Amber links, Cinnamon Queens, etc, are pretty much all the same thing, just with different names.

Thanks for all the help. And you are right about them being good egg layers...we have only had them 24 hours and we just collected our 1st egg!
