Have you seen any small bugs moving one the chickens, especially under the vent, belly and elsewhere? Look upon them at night too. Dark ling beetles can hang around in chicken coops. The things that get on chickens are lice, mites, and stick tight fleas. If you have a magnifying glass, lice have 6 legs and are elongated. Mites are more oval and have 8 legs. There are many pictures online if you Google. Permethrin garden dust works well to treat them.
