I have several tomatillo plants in my garden. The bugs are eating them and they are wormy. Can the chickens safely eat them? What about the papery covering? I brought a handful down, but then I got to thinking that they might not be good for the girls.

I'd give them to them. I've seen them refuse a few foods but I've never seen them harmed by what they ate willingly.
A little searching, however, will produce a list of stuff they should not have.

According to http://www.poultryhelp.com/toxicplants.html#T the unripe berries (ground cherry) can cause gastric distress. I finally found the link. I know some of the listings here are a bit conservative (it lists cabbage as toxic for instance), but I'll stay with the safe plan and pitch them unless someone else has fed them successfully.
