Arizona Chickens

Anybody looking to add to their flock? I'm in the West Phoenix area and I have 4 lovely pullets I'd like to rehome, 2 already laying, 2 at POL and likely to begin laying early this spring. I'm just wanting to downsize my flock a bit and these ladies are sweet but don't match up with my chicken-keeping goals. I'd like them to go together.

First is a Minorca:

She's very shy at the moment, but I don't believe she's laying yet so reaching full hen-hood might change her personality.

Second is a Gold Star:

She's already laying, she's a sweet girl and has a lot of curiousity and a fun personality.

Third is a Barnevelder:

She is also on the shyer side, but glorious to look at and always greedy for treats. She is not laying yet.

And last but not least is an Olive Egger:

She's a beautiful girl and my personal favorite of the four. She is already laying and lays large olive-colored eggs. Very personable and human-friendly, although she's molting right now so not quite as friendly at the moment.

The Minorca, Olive Egger, and Gold Star were hatched early February 2024. The Barnevelder was hatched late May 2024. They've been free-ranging on my property and fed organically since they were chicks. I'm asking $100 for all 4.

Some good looking girls, wish I had the room I’d help you out but unfortunately my coop and yard is full…

Beautiful girls! I wish I had room, but my yard is at its limit right now too.

Good luck in finding them a new home. I don't run a mixed flock, so I can't take them.

Did everyone get some rain or snow? We got a wee bit of rain and the mountains got a few inches of snow and look lovely today. Look how dry and crispy everything is, though. Shows how little rain we've had.

Our plumbing backed up again last night. Ugh. We had our pipes cleared all the way up to the city pipes under the street which are only about 30 feet away. We're also regularly treating with Green Gobbler to keep things clear.

I'm starting to wonder if there's some blockage at the juncture with the city's pipes that is creating these backups, and if it's at all related to rainfall. They're getting a call from me today. This is a mystery that needs solving.

Several of our hens are still molting. I've been giving them salmon, sardines, and tuna to boost their protein intake which seems to help with egg production. They have a Cozy Coop they can snuggle up to if they're cold. We haven't had many freezing nights yet.

Just asking;; Are there any trees growing in the path of sewer line??? If so,, I can offer a solution.
I had roots growing inside my sewer pipes

Good thinking. Not directly in the path. There's a mesquite off to one side and there was a palo verde even further away but we lost that in last summer's tornado. There were several citrus trees in the garden but that was forty years ago.

We had a plumber put a camera and a cutter down there two years ago but there weren't any roots intruding. We got to watch the whole thing, it was very interesting.

To their credit the city came right out and checked the main. They put a camera down there and said there were no obstructions. They said there's a slight belly or dip in the pipe going from our house to the main and it's possible water could pool there but it's very small and that wouldn't explain a backup.

So it's still a mystery. 🤔

What did you do about your roots?

The bathroom is cleaned up and sparkling again. There was only a little backup this time so it wasn't such an ordeal to clean it up. Just smelled a bit bad. Not anymore! ✨
