Arlo security camera Black Friday sale

OK, are you saying that the REOLINK cameras can be located farther away from your wifi router?
No, I'm saying the Reolink cameras actually run off of my WiFi router. I also have WiFi extenders to help spread the coverage of my WiFi to the rear of our rather long and narrow house.

The Arlo cameras I have ONLY run off of a signal put out by the Arlo base station and there is no way to extend the Arlo coverage. I could move the Arlo base station but it will never be able to cover from the front to the rear of the house.

I’ve always thought it might be neat to have a camera inside my coop but never wanted to spend the money. My wife found one at Walmart on Black Friday for $30. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Arlo-Ess...am-White/3117045773?athbdg=L1800&from=/search

I’ve only had it for a couple hours but so far I’m pretty happy with it for the money spent.I think it requires a monthly subscription if you want it to record 24/7 so you can look back in time. But I believe you can view live without the subscription.

True, you need a subscription to store any videos, which I don't like. I have 3 of them. Purchased 3 ieGeek cameras, which you can put an SD card into to record video. Does not need any subscription. I am happier with these, although I still use the Arlos, will not recommend them.

So, how far is that ARLO (Arlo Essential Outdoor Camera HD (2nd Generation) - Wireless 1080p Security Surveillance Camera - 1-Cam - White, VMC2050-1WMNAS) from your wi-fi router?

My coop is a good fifty fifty feet 'outback' ad I'm interested in learning how far away these things can be placed and still get a signali

In my experience 50 feet is at the edge of the range.
I ended up pulling a wire through from the garage to the coop and installing one of their base stations in the coop. That works well for both coop cameras and security cameras as the coop is close to the front of the house.

Right. I was asking the OP about a specific camera and model the OP said they bought at Walmart and employed in their coop.

My Arlos are all near/mounted on the house. I guess you have to test and see how far your router broadcasts a signal.

I use a WiFi repeater for my cameras. Distance between camera and repeater is approximately 75 feet. Right now the weather is pretty calm and my Arlo app reports that the signal strength is high and it connects without any issues. Some days it won’t connect at all. I don’t know if it’s too far away or if something is causing interference I just know that sometimes it’s unreliable.

Brand? Model?

Looking to understand how these things work - before buying my first one!

Basically, I am looking for a camera I can place OUTSIDE (in the pen or thereabouts) and look at the output (stills or video) on my wife's cell phone or (even better) on my Windows Laptop. Without a subscription. But maybe an internal sd Card.

Best if it is wireless, but I have some Internet (CAT 5) wires.

I use This one for no reason other than it was available at my local Walmart the day I decided to get one. The setup was fairly straightforward it’s been a while but I believe I followed a QPR address included with the instructions then entered my network id of the router. Then connected my cameras to my network_ext. Once it’s entered it saves the information and you can move the extender to different outlets until you find the one with best reception
