Humm, I don´t remember seeing any Arsnic on the lable of my Mexican brand feed, but who really knows.

Arsnic is among those things where I desire no amount, even trace, along with things like cesium, and flouride type compounds.

Higher trace levels of potassium iodide and trace borax are essential (and usually deficent) nutrients that help the the organisim eliminate many of the toxins which serve no purpose such as arsnic, flourides, bromides, and heavy metals.

and iodine and borates also help to eliminate a whole variety of radioactive isotopes.


In any case, my hens don't eat the commercial feed much except the youngins, and new arrivals.

Their favorite foods, which I have also found out are great for them nutritionally are:

48hr Sprouted Wheat,
Amaranth Plants, both small and large,
Broccolli Plants,
Spinach Plants,
Wheat and Oat Grass,
Bugs,
stolen Dry Cat Food,
and homemade Yoghurt.

They have access to all this all the time, (through rotating access to garden areas,) and they can choose whatever they want, and they choose the Commercial Ration the least of all.

Here is the lable from my chicken feed.

It does not list any Arsenic added.

Do you think my birds are in danger of being deficent in Arsenic? (sarc)

If there is Arsenilic Acid in the feed it will be listed conspicuously on the feed tag. The aresenilic acid is an effective antibiotic, but very few poultry farmers use it anymore because of the perception that this thread illustrates.

Commercial feed is not available to us like it is to commercial farmers.

Most hatcheries offer or are giving antibiotics and that adds the lessening of resistance, though greater survival in the short term. It's always about the bottom line.
