I've been assisting one of my call ducklings that internally pipped. He's doing great. The other two eggs hadn't and as it's day 26 I was afraid they were shrink wrapped. I opened up a hole (they were shrink wrapped) and added coconut oil to soften the membrane. One of them is in the wrong position and I can't tell where it's bill is. What do I do?

That looks like the one baby I had who pipped at the wrong end! You’re looking at a butt and yolk.

I did the same thing, opened up the air cell and didn’t realize what I was looking at until it was very open. I covered the air cell with plastic wrap, and my baby had already pipped, so I left them be in the incubator. But you may need to go in and gently open up the other end.

Their bill should be about here, on the opposite end of where it’d normally be.

Hatch time is going to be chaotic, but it’s certainly do-able! My baby hatched perfectly fine and just turned 1 year old recently :)

Thank you so much! I could tell I was looking at the yolk sac but had no idea where that meant the bill is and don't want to make random holes... Thank you!

Well lone survivor made it and is the cutest little trooper :loveAny ideas what to do for companionship? I have ducklings coming in a couple weeks but he's already calling for friends.

Oh what a sweet little guy. I've heard giving them a plush and a mirror can help with the loneliness while waiting for friends. Maybe you can look on your local classifieds for anyone who has new ducklings available for pickup.
