I have a chicken I've had for 9 years now and she was attacked in the coop. I've been putting neosporin on her head and feeding her water with a syringe. She drinks it and she is standing up. She is separated from the flock now. What can I put in the syringe to feed her? The photo is of her head!

Raw egg (white and yolk,) watered down canned cat food (such as Friskies pate,) and very watery chicken crumbles may go through a syringe. KayTee Exact baby bird feed is routinely used by chicken owners to tube feed ill chickens. Feeding tube sets for baby goats are available from Amazon, and the feed is available from Amazon, pet stores, and Chewie (see link below.) You can feed 15 ml per pound of liquid feed per pound of weight 2 to 3 times a day, 6-8 hours between feedings.

For injured eyes, I would rinse it with saline or an eye wash twice a day, and apply either Terramycin eye ointment from a feed store, or plain Neosporin triple antibiotic ointment twice a day. Look to see if the eye is intact.

Treat for shock with water with sugar 1 tsp per cupful, and hold it up to the beak. How long ago did this happen?
