It stopped storming sometime during the night. We didn't lose power! It is storming again now though. Fingers crossed we maintain our luck haha.

We checked on the eggs again today and 6 in the incubator are developing, and of the 5 outside only one is developing. It appears that only 2 of the outside eggs were even fertilized. So in total we have 7 eggs with viable embryos. They seven were moving and active, so I'm hoping all of them make it.

Checked on the eggs in the incubator and all six are in great shape. Good movement and veins! The one egg that is developing that is in the coop under a broody was still good as of last night- my dad put the chickens away tonight so I didn't check on it but I have high hopes for that one as well.

8 days seems like forever but I start back at work shortly after that so it won't be that long, I'm sure.

Can I join in? Today I am going to buy 2 black 3 day old silkies for my broody hen Lily. So exited! And I really think I will actually come home with some other chicks too Also I really hope that she will take them as hers I decided that buying chicks would be better for me cuz it saves you 21 days. I hope your hatch goes well!

I'm glad to hear you didn't lose power (I don't know why but I didn't get notifications for this thread, so I'm late with answering), I hope the storm is completely over now?

Awwww congrats They are beautiful!
I hope everything goes well when integrating them with their new momma, I don't have any experience with giving a broody hatched babies - fingers crossed

I'd love for you to join in! The more the merrier! Buying chicks is typically what we do (usually we order online. Our two silkies were given to us at a day old though.) but we wanted to try for some silkies from lines that we could see and have an idea as to what they might turn out like.
