Hi
@satay my biggest news is that a new chook joined us on Saturday. She was a stray who was rescued from the suburban streets by a friend of a friend. The rescuer door-knocked all around and put messages in all the appropriate facebokers groups, but the owners weren't found. They may still claim her, but if not, she has a home with me now.
I've called her Sandy after an aunty who's no longer with us. She seems to be a basic red layer hybrid, with some pretty white touches. She eats and drinks heartily and gave me one egg so far.
I've got her separated from my other two chooks for now. They can talk through the wire though, which I hope will lessen the inevitable pecking order trauma once they're all in together. If she seems healthy enough, I'll merge them in another ten days or so.
One of mine is moulting too. So my eggs are fewer than usual, so it's just as well Sandy has stepped in to boost the numbers!
