Hello, I wonder if someone could help me, I have just started breeding black Australorps and am going to buy some blue Australorps. What colour chick would I get if I crossed a blue and a black together?

Also I really want to get the white Australorp but have been told there are none in the uk. If I were to purchase them from abroad I’m assuming the eggs would get X-rayed and not survive?

What colours would you get mixing the white and blues and the black and whites?

Thank you in advance 👍🏻

With the Australorp's you will get 50/50 black's and blues by crossing a blue with the black. Breeding the blue to blue one's, you will get black's, blue's, and possible splash in the chick's. I had the B/B/S Australorp's before. They were nice bird's, but I gave them up for another breed that does better in the heat here.

Blue + Black = 50% blue and 50% black
Assuming australorps are recessive white then:
Blue + White = 50% blue and 50% black
Black + White = 100% black
😊
I came across this conversation from a couple of years ago while trying to find out about cross breeding my Blue Australorp rooster. Do you know if the blue will pass down if I bred him to my Red Sex Link, Welbar, or Speckled Sussex?
