I got a kick out of the racing pigeon not flying over certain counties. Pigeon show up at the door. Got blown off course by a stormhttps://www.michigan.gov/mdard/-/me...c2836ed&hash=C258D640360EFF6882EF677A6513EA4C

This is from the Michigan thread, but I thought it was good info to pass along. Here is a link to an MDARD page which lists multiple HPAI website links: https://www.michigan.gov/mdard/anim...m=email&utm_source=govdelivery#current-status
And a quote from this page:
"Please Note: HPAI is NOT evidenced by one dead bird or one coughing/sneezing bird while the remainder of the flock is acting normally. Instead, for small flock owners, look for two or more dead birds within a 24-hour period and symptoms in the rest of the flock (not eating, acting lethargic or sleepy with eyes closed, tucking their head close to their body, and appearing to be puffed up)"
They are journalists - they googled/AI'd synonyms for "fired, removed or reduced" with poultry associations, and assumed the news consuming public (average 5th grade level of understanding) didn't know any more than they did. They put the announcement of 400 workers laid off from Herbruck's as:
"Herbruck's Poultry Ranch culls 400 workers in mass layoff after farms hit with bird flu"
Did they think they were being funny?
On the local news, the said that Herbruck's supplies most of the eggs to the McDonald's restaurants in the eastern half of the US.
Media can be so insensitive just to have a catchy sounding headline.
I had to read it twice before i understood they meant laying off human workers. They put the announcement of 400 workers laid off from Herbruck's as:
