Hi,
My Speckled Sussex named Phoenix has fly strike over a patch of her behind about 4 square inches with some maggots around 3/4 inch deep. I’ve bathed her 5 times and I’m currently typing this with my right hand as I hold her bum below water with my left for a 6th time. I’ve gotten roughly half of the maggots out, but I’m leaving on a trip for a week tomorrow and a vet can’t see her till Tuesday. My dad is taking care of them while I’m gone but there’s no way he’ll continue treatment, and she’s in a lot of pain. Should I euthanize at this point? I love her to pieces but she’s in pain and I don’t want her to die slowly as she’s eaten away at. Please please please give me any advice at all. This is my last hope.

I think if you can't keep the bird somewhere indoors away from any possible contact with flies and you are going to be gone, euthanasia may be the best bet if you are good with that.
Having a bird in that condition outdoors is a magnet for fly egg laying.

We’re currently looking for humane euthanasia as I don’t think there’s any other way we can help her

Yes, I would as she is being eaten alive with no hope for recovering as you will not be there to continue the treatment.

And even if you did, to me your picture looks as if it is too far along and she is beyond help already.

After an assessment a vet at our local humane society confirmed that it was too late for treatment. Phoenix was humanely euthanized this afternoon.
