Ayam Cemani x Leghorn

I’m planning to cross a Cemani rooster with a leghorn hen. This cross should be sex linked, right? I should obtain hens with black skin and roosters with clear skin. Someone that have done this cross know if the hens produced from this cross are good layers?

I don’t know anything about the first breed mentioned or the results of said pairing, but leghorns are one of if not the best egg laying breed. I would think that leghorn genetics would improve the egg laying capabilities.

I have never done this cross but would agree that leghorns should improve your laying capabilities. As long as the leghorns have the sex linked pigment suppression gene Id then yes, you should get skin sex linked chicks.

I didn’t have done the cross yet. I will hatch some eggs on February.

It’s not February but I already have hatched 4 chicks..

What I can clearly see is a difference on legs color, half are yellow and the other half are more blackish. The skin doesn’t look completely black but it’s hard to see because they are small.

I just did this with a yellow shanked hen and slate shanked rooster. I definitely see the same leg colouring. I look forward to seeing if it worked for both of us.

Yes, i'm interested to see the outcome. I have just had a couple of silkie rooster over pekin hens hatch, both dark skin so wondering if i'm lucky enough to have a couple of ladies.

The chicks are now two weeks old and I can already guess who is male and who females.
Sadly it seems that they are not sex linked.
What I see is two females, one with black legs and skin, one completely white.
The males one completely white and one with blackish shanks and white skin.
