Hey everyone!
Really sorry if this is a silly question or is common sense, but I am new to raising baby chicks and I want to do what is best for them so rather ask!
I have three 5.5 week old silkies who are still living inside in their brooder, but I have them a run for outside. They only go in it when it feels warm (I am always outside with them) they LOVE being in it. Although I am always worried if they are getting too cold and about how long they should be out there for.
We are in Sydney Australia so it’s doesn’t really get super cold. For example today it’s cold for us at 19°c/20°c (or 66°f/68°f)
So if they’re outside and seem happy, peeping quietly, foraging and playing, is that enough indication that they are ok or can they still get too cold?
They usually tell me when they want to come in by calling me and standing in the corner. So my intuition says they’re fine and happy but I really just need to know for certain that I’m doing them no harm
Thank you!
