So 19 days ago, I placed 11 eggs in my incubator and 10 made it to lockdown, one hatched with an unabsorbed yolk and died less than a minute after hatching, and this other one hatched but doesn’t want to walk around with its siblings. He doesn’t open his eyes, his siblings walk on him and he falls to his side and stays there. When I pick him up, his head just hangs, he’s constantly tucking his head under his body. Aside from that, he seems to be having these body twitches. His body twitches and moves weirdly. What could be the problem? He hatched about two hours ago and he’s been like this since, he was fine in the incubator but once I took him out, he became like this. He chirps normally when his siblings step on him or when I pick him up but he doesn’t really open his eyes and his head just hangs.

It needs to go back in the incubator right away. If a chick is not up and running around after hatch do not remove them from the incubator. Especially if they only hatched two hours ago. Many chicks will take longer than two hours to get their legs under them. It is curling up because that is the only position it has ever known and being able to move is foreign. I would give it a full day in the incubator at least and then if it still is wobbly give it some poultry cell.

Thank you! I put it in the incubator and it is lifting its head up for short periods now. I hope it makes it

Little late update but just to let you know, your idea of putting it back in the incubator worked! Less than an hour after putting the chicken back in, he started lifting his head up and about 4 hours later, he was walking around and chirping loudly to be let out so I did and he joined the rest of his siblings! few days later and I can’t even tell which one it is anymore because they’re all normal eating and drinking now. Thank you so much
