Hello,
Another question about our ducklings. I have read that they should have all of their feathers by 6-8wks a d can self regulate body temps. That would be about mid April. But I also read that they should not be outside when night time temps drop below 50 degrees. Where I am in VA we can get snow in late April a d last frost for planting our garden isn't until 2nd wk of May.
Question: when will it be safe for them to go outside? I would guess that they will be too big for my 3x5 bsmt enclosure by then.

My Spring Ducklings moved out of the Garage into their outside house two weeks ago, at an age of five weeks. The house was protected from the cold winds and they had an infrared lamp and a heat-pad. After just 1½ weeks in that house they wanted out and join the grown-ups so bad, i let them loose. Since then they sleep in the big duck-house, still have their infrared lamp but use it rarely.
