If they're mixed they very well could lay big eggs 
it could take months to acclimate :-/ my one hen started laying and laid daily then I slightly adjusted her nest box and a week goes by no egg! And then one and then I clean out the bedding... One more week no eggs then another egg:.. I'm aware because she lays a color we don't otherwise have. She's a gentle sensitive bird.
