barred rock roo and yellow/cream colored chicks

I'm going to pick up some new chickens 2 bo hens and 5 of their chicks the roo was a barred rock 2 of the chicks are black (as expected )and three are yellow as the pic shows can this even be possible the lady says other hens put eggs under the bo but if the barred rock is the only roo as she claims can yellow chicks turn up or is there another roo in the henhouse

I'm not super experienced with breeding and stuff like that but in my knowledge from high school biology class, it is definitely possible. There is a chance that one can be completely barred rock and the other can be completely bo. Since these are two very well bred types of breeds, their traits are dominant and most likely lack a possibility of codominance. This means that there are only two options.. barred rock or bo and no in between. I wouldn't be worried. Although look out could there is a possibility that you have 5 baby roos on your hands!!
