My question is, does anyone else clip the cheek feathers so that the bird can see in front of him? Literally, he can’t see what he’s pecking at.

It is important to trim the feathers around the eyes so they can see. Many Silkies become malnourished and dehydrated because they can't see well. A friend of mine had a Silkie wander into a pond and drown because he couldn't see.
