Hello all, I noticed today that one my Marans was limping. When I picked her up, it looks like she is bleeding from a couple of her feathers on her foot. Are these broken blood feathers, and should I remove them and put septic powder on them? Or are these new feathers growing? Thank you all for the advice and any suggestions!

This is her left foot outside toe.

It looks like she had an accident! I would clean it up and look at it. If it is blood feathers broken I would soak them in warm water and remove them. Yes new feathers will grow back if she loses these feathers. Hope this works for you! I've noticed that my chickens sometimes lose their feathers. It's nothing of concern unless it gets infected. Make sure you check it everyday.

Update, both broken feathers were removed completely and clotting powder applied. She took it like a champ and is currently gorging on some soldier fly larva. Thank you all for your help.
