Best Pheasant breed for free rangeing

I've had a few of my ringnecks get out of the pen and within 24 hours, they were all back walking around their coop trying to get in! I've had them since they were two weeks old though and they are only about 3 months now!

I've had 6 ring necked pheasants free ranging with my fowl and never had a problem. I'm pretty sure they thought they were chickens :D
Anyways I've 16 more pheasant chicks (half will be released) and 6 partridges chicks.
Hopefully they'll pbe like my past pheasants.

I've lost a few pheasants to escapes over the years, thankfully they were all ringnecks. Free ranging with pheasants doesn't work reliably as they don't have much of a homing instinct. Every now and then you'll get a few who stick around but out of all the breeders I know as well as myself I am the only one who had a pheasant free range that stuck around. He was a hybrid that was sold to me as a pure bird that escaped. Since he was a hybrid I didn't want him around anyway and figured he'd just wander off and that would be the end of it. 6 months later he was still here and stuck around like a bad cold. Definitely ironic that he stuck around when he was the one bird I didn't want.
