Big Bad Mareks

I do have one of the December purchased silkies with a persistent crop issue, it is still really slow, I checked her again this morning and it is much too full and squishy. She's on Day 6 if the acodofied copper Sulfate. I think I'll change her to probiotics and plain water tonight. I'm at a loss as what to try next.
:hugs

I've found that if the Copper doesn't fix the crop issue, something else is going on to cause a yeasty crop. Mareks could definitely be weakening her system. If you don't see any changes by day 8 or 9, Id stop with the copper. Have you tried Corid? Coccidiosis can slow crops down and cause serious weight loss.

Today was day 7, so I've went to probiotics and stopped the Copper, her crop is still big and squishy ☹️ I'll try corid, my grow outs are on day 3 of corid, I had my extra fancy SFH cockerel acting lethargic and a pullet acting wobbly, so I started corid and they are both coming around.

That reminds me, I need to order a backup bottle of corid. I had one bottle that lasted forever and now with the many many beaks, I'm going through it faster when I do need it.

Hopefully the Corid helps, if not, something more sinister is going on. :( Keep us posted! :hugs

My one silkie with the crop issues is definitely not worse, maybe a smidgen better. I'm hoping to get her through the 5 day corid treatment and slip her back in with her flock while 5 are broody, it should be an easy integration with only 1 hen not broody to think about picking on her.

And of course... after saying the chicks are doing well, yesterday morning I went out to a 12 week old displaying paralysis. I had just taken pictures of him the day before so I know it wasn't like I had missed noticing previous symptoms. It has hit him fast, yesterday it was one leg, this morning it's both, we have no choice but to cull. I'm disappointed, he was vaccinated AND he's from my own Mareks surviving chickens, so he should have had a little extra boost with the antibodies from the hen.

I’m sorry to hear. I hope you can get them through this without any more loss. 😞 Hugs from me and my flock, Tink.

When I was growing up my Dad always told me this.

"In life there will be set backs. Sometimes you will have to take a step backward so you can move forward again. Do what you have to do so you can move forward again. Keep your eye on the prize."
