Looks just like my little Sydney. I was convinced it was a roo for the longest time. She had early comb & waddle development but they stayed small. Still super small but starting to turn dark red now that she’s 16 weeks. She’s also starting to nest so I should see eggs from her soon. My for sure rooster has been trying to mount her last 2 days but she’s not receptive yet. All my austrlorps had early development of comb & waddles. However, they stayed small. Didn’t get bigger.
I’m thinking you’ve got a little pullet there. Not a rooster.
Did your Australorp pullets stand upright like this one? And are their legs pretty thick compared to other chicks? Those are things that make me think this is a roo besides the fact of early waddles and comb development. :idunno I’m so confused about this bird now lol!

That's ok. One of us is wrong and I'm fine if it's me 😂

Maybe wait a little longer. Everyone said mine was a cockerel also. Shes now 16 weeks and a pullet.

😂:thumbsup
I disagree be of the redness, but I could very well be wrong.

I’ll be sure to keep this thread updated to let y’all know how this one turns out!!:lau Thanks for each of your opinions! I’m thinking I might need to wait a few more weeks before trading just incase. I’d hate to loose this one if it’s a pullet. I know my gut says cockerel, but I have no experience with this breed.

I had one Australorp pullet whose legs were so thick and her feet were so big that I named her Big Foot - and her sister was Little Foot. Keep an eye out for pointy saddle feathers but I don't think there will be any. The overall body shape also says "pullet" to me.

Okay that’s good to know about the legs, feet and body shape. :thumbsup Also really cute names you had for them!

Thanks, I'm a very original namer. ;)
This was Big Foot at 8 weeks above.
Her sister had much slimmer legs and smaller feet.
