I have 2 chicks that are supposed to be black australorps but I just noticed one has leg feathers sprouting and the other doesn't? Are they 2 different breeds? What are they?

They may be langshans or marans. Im not so good at identifying chicks. (That's why I have glw instead of austolorps. Lol)
They also may be mixed. Where did you get them?

I got them at the local feed store. I'm curious about whether they could be the same even though one has feathers and the other doesn't.

They are 2 different breeds bc BA do not have feathered legs, and their legs are slate colored, which would be darker than the feathered leg chick. Cochin, Maran, Brahma are some common breeds with feathered legs. However, Cochin and Brahma usually have more feathers than the pic, at hatch, so perhaps not those breeds. We have Marans and they have feathered legs (French type) and it took a bit to begin to see feathers, so might be a possibility for yours.

Just to be clear ... The pictures above are of the same chick. This is the other chick. She is a little taller and does not have feathers on her legs (yet?)

The first chick seems to have a straight comb. I'm betting on langshan (sold by Ideal or McMurray) or French black marans (sold by most hatcheries) . Both have (underside) pink feet.
Some feed stores will tell you which hatchery their last batch of chicks come from.

They both have yellow feet.
