Your 2025 Garden

Still no string, so to tie up my tomatoes I used the string that came with my straw bales.

The tomato on the right has blossoms.

We had wind, and the peas fell over.

Weeded and watered the iris and monarda. Rain barrel overflow (left) is empty, so I started using the full one on the right to water my gardens.
For peas support, I usually "plant" fallen twigs and branches from the neighbor's maple next to the row. Although it looks like it might be a bit late for you for this year. But maybe not. 🤷‍♂️

The jalapenos I planted last year were not at all hot. I'm not the only one who had that problem. Hubby was NOT amused.
I saw something called a "tam" jalapeno and another one called "fooled ya" when I was at the garden center last week. The little tags on both of them promise the flavor of jalapeno without the heat. We brought home a habanero.

Both seeds were from the same packet. I do not consider it a blessing to end up with something different from what I paid for.
Having sorted seeds, I can understand how one rouge gets in a packet.

Hubby was mad about our jalapenos not being hot, and we had to buy some (!) to make his salsa. I cut up the not-hots and froze them for me. Duly marked as to what they were, of course!

I agree!

One year I planted 5 cayenne from a new pack of seeds. I ended up with 3 cayenne and 2 habaneros.

Another year I bought a new packet of Black Krim tomato seeds. Planted 8. Ended up with 5 Black Krim and 3 "who knows" tomatoes. Not BK but red and round. I didn't know until they started making fruit planted in my garden.

No more Ferry Morse for me. I save my own Black Krim and cayenne seeds now.

I can replant peas in late summer for a fall harvest. Our first frost is usually around November 1.

But I think I will make another tall trellis, the short ones I have aren't tall enough.

Peas too tall + trellis too short + wind = this.
